Are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin. Here's the story of yourbus from the beginning to the present day.
yourbus (the trading name of Dunn Motor Traction Limited) was started by Scott Dunn in June 2009.
Scott is no stranger to the bus industry and held various positions at Dunn-Line which operated both bus and coach services in the Nottingham area until it was sold to Veolia in April 2006.
From a small, modest depot in Hucknall two services were started linking Phoenix Park and Hempshill Vale to Nottingham City Centre.
A few months later in October 2009, we were sucessful in winning contracts from Derbyshire County Council for service 140, 141 and 142 operating in the Matlock and Crich area. These services saw another five vehicles join the fleet.
Keen to expand operations, service 36 (now Y36) was registered in direct competition with Nottingham City Transport on the busy Chilwell - Beeston - Nottingham City Centre route.
Service was started on 22 February 2010 operating every 20 minutes and proved popular with passengers looking for an alternative to their current bus provider.
It was so popular that the service was increased to every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday with an introduction of a Sunday service.
With the additional vehicles, we'd quickly grown out of our depot at The Aerodrome, and a new operating base was found in Heanor.
June 2009 saw the award of local services in the Retford and Tuxford area from Nottinghamshire County Council. Another depot was opened in Tuxford.
Six low floor double deck and three low floor single deck vehicles were purchased for the operation of these services and proved a hit with passengers who, under their old bus provider, weren't guaranteed a low floor bus.
On 30 August 2010 service 228 and 229 commenced, again, operating on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council - three additional vehicles were purchased for these routes.
Patronage on the Y36 was growing and people were starting to get used to the friendly service we offered and it was decided to introduce an evening service and also late night buses on a Friday and Saturday night.
In January 2011, we sucessfully won contracts from National Express to operate three services from the East Midlands to Bradford, Heathrow Airport and London. This saw the introduction of 16 brand new Volvo B9R coaches for these routes.
We've come quite a long way since we first started two years ago and it wouldn't have been possible without our loyal passengers and dedicated employees who really do go the extra mile.
